Live 5 Most Wanted fugitive surrenders to authorities

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Officials say a 23-year-old man wanted for violating probation turned himself over to authorities.

Maurice Wright was wanted by South Carolina Probation and Parole agents for violating probation after pleading guilty to a strong armed robbery charge.

Investigators say that Maurice has now taken care of his violations and is in now in compliance.

"During that probation supervision he was to do 80 hours of community service, be on intensive supervision with home detention for six months," said Probation and Parole Agent Mitchell Ray.

As his probation sentence was about to end, Wright suddenly stopped seeing his probation officer in March of last year and moved without permission.

"He was close to finishing and then took off before he got across the finish line. We have no idea what triggered him to leave," said Ray. "We have no idea what triggered him to leave."
