Congressman Tim Scott give his take on Republican primary

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - As the first-in-the south primary nears, Republican Congressman Tim Scott gave his thoughts on the race.

Scott says it has been an interesting race so far and sees South Carolina playing a pivotal role in the Republican primary.

"I think South Carolina is poised to be the most important state in the process of electing the Republican nominee," Scott said."Which makes us critical in the national landscape of politics. We have been here since 1980 and I'm hoping our voters will keep us through 2016."

Scott says he believes one of the Republican candidates will  become the next president of the United States.

"It's going to be a very interesting race to the finish," Scott said

The congressman hosted town hall meetings with each of the candidates during the campaign season introducing each of them to voters in South Carolina.
