3 men rob West Ashley Publix at gunpoint

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police are investigating an armed robbery at a West Ashley grocery store. The Publix on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard was robbed around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

According to a store employee, three men came into the store wearing masks. One of the suspects was armed with a gun.

The employee says the manager was held at gunpoint, while another suspect went into the cash room, threw the employee on the ground and stole money from the safe. Eventually, an employee was able to call police.

Witnesses say that one of the suspects was seen running toward Charles Towne Landing. The other two took off toward Sam Rittenberg Boulevard. No one was hurt in the incident.

The suspects are described as three black males between 6' and 6'2". One of the suspects was armed with a handgun.
