Cops: Couple held at knifepoint minutes after checking into hotel room

WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) - Authorities are looking for two men who reportedly held a man and woman at knifepoint during an armed robbery at a hotel off of Sniders Highway late Saturday night.

Walterboro Public Safety officers responded to the Rice Planters Inn on Ladson Lane just before midnight Saturday after receiving reports of a robbery.  When they arrived, a man told them he and his wife had just arrived and checked into their room.

The man said that after unloading the car he went to re-park it.  As he finished and returned inside the victim said two men came in behind them and grabbed his wife, holding her at knifepoint with a large kitchen knife.

The victims said the suspects took all their belongings, including: $470 in cash, $4,000 in clothes and furs, and two rifles valued at $1,800.

The man said they also took the keys to his white 2007 Chevrolet Impala, which they stole and used as a getaway vehicle.

The susepcts were described as black males standing at least 6' tall, wearing dark clothes with their shirts pulled up over their noses, wearing dark hats.
