University of South Carolina junior cornerback Stephon Gilmore will enter the NFL Draft, Gamecock defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward confirmed today.
Gilmore, a 6-1, 193-pounder from Rock Hill, S.C., has started all 40 games at cornerback for the Gamecocks over the past three seasons. He recorded 46 tackles during the 2011 campaign while leading the team with four interceptions, including one in the bowl win over Nebraska. He was a first-team All-SEC selection and a third-team AP All-American following the 2010 season when he logged 79 tackles and three picks. He finished his three-year career with eight interceptions, four forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
Gilmore joins Gamecock junior wide receiver Alshon Jeffery in declaring for the NFL Draft.
