Grandfather, 2 children killed in fire

LORIS, SC (WMBF) - The names of the three people killed in Wednesday morning's mobile home fire in Loris have been released, and investigators are trying to determine the cause of the blaze.

Fire officials say that two children and one adult were killed in a fire at 3540 Lake Pond Road in Loris just after midnight.

According to the Horry County Coroner's Office, 7-year-old Conner Lynn Elliott, 9-year-old Austin Daniel Elliott and Hugh Elliott, age unknown, were killed in the fire.

The coroner says Hugh Elliott was the grandfather and custodial guardian of Conner and Austin. Horry County Fire Rescue Investigators say the two children were discovered in a bedroom within the residence and the adult victim was found in the hallway.

Investigators add most of the damage is in the right, front portion of the home, but the damage is so severe it will be difficult to determine an exact point of origin for the fire.

Photos from the home show the bottom floor completely demolished, making it even more difficult for fire officials to collect more information.

HCFR responded to the fire at 12:37 a.m. with mutual aid from Loris Fire.
