NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A house fire in North Charleston is under investigation Monday morning after the home was destroyed.
Firefighters arrived at East Oak Ridge Circle to battle a blaze around 7 p.m. Sunday.
Fire officials say no one was hurt in the fire because no one lived at the home.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Another Sunday night fire displaced a family of four after their Bream Road apartment sustained major damage. Red Cross volunteers assisted the family, which includes three children.
The Red Cross provided the family temporary lodging in a nearby hotel, financial assistance to help replace the food that was lost in the fire and comfort kits filled with personal hygiene supplies.
The family was also provided referrals to Red Cross partner agencies to ensure their long term emergency needs will be met.
Since January 1, the Red Cross has assisted 43 individuals devastated by home fires in its seven-county region of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton and Jasper counties. During 2011 the Red Cross assisted 1,186 individuals affected by disasters.
