JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Police say they have arrested a man that confessed to stealing a handgun and other items from his own grandparents' Johns Island home.

Charleston Police Department investigators say 20-year-old Brandon Jarell Bailey confessed to falsely reporting a burglary at his grandparents' home on Langston Drive during an interview last Friday.

According to the incident report, Bailey said he staged the burglary by kicking the back door in.  Police say he then called to report the robbery.

Bailey also told investigators an accomplice was holding some of the stolen property, including a Glock 9 mm pistol. That person has not been taken into custody or charged with a crime.

Bailey was arrested and charged with filing a false police report. He was taken to the Charleston County Detention Center for processing.
