James Island man chases burglar out of his home

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say a homeowner armed with a gun chased a burglar out of his James Island home and pursued him for half a block.

The burglary happened around 3 a.m. on Carpenter Street, just off Woodland Shores Road.

Charleston County sheriff's deputies say the homeowner was sleeping when he heard glass breaking and his dog barking.

According to authorities, the victim got his pistol and flashlight, approached the kitchen and saw the suspect.

Authorities say the victim pursued the man for half a block.

The victim described the suspect as a white male, 6-foot tall, short brown buzzed cut hair, wearing dark clothing and long sleeve pants.

Deputies say nothing appeared to be stolen from the home.
