Machesney Blanks Everblades 3-0

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - Defenseman Nick Tabisz scored two goals and goaltender Daren Machesney made 30 saves for his first shutout of the season as South Carolina Stingrays (24-16-1-1) defeated the Florida Everblades (21-18-1-1) 3-0 at the North Charleston Coliseum Sunday afternoon.
Tabisz grabbed the opening goal on the power play at 4:37 of the first period knocking in a rebound past the glove of Everblades keeper Pat Nagle (L, 30 saves on 32 shots) along the far post. Forward Mike Hamilton and defenseman Zach Tarkir earned assists.
Tabisz buried his sixth goal of the season early in the second period tapping home a pass from forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien at 2:43. Forward Maxime Lacroix added the second assist.
Defensman Johann Kroll put the game away with an empty-net goal at 18:35 of the final frame from forward Matt Scherer. The Stingrays wrapped up the afternoon going 1-for-4 on the power play while the Everblades went 0-for-1.
The Stingrays return to action Friday, January 27 against the Trenton Titans at 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum. The ZOOperstars, hockey's #1 entertainment act, will be performing during the first and second intermissions!
