SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Police are looking for the burglar(s) who broke into and stole from 3 Summerville churches located just a few blocks from one another overnight Sunday.

Officers with the Summerville Police Department received reports of burglaries from: Emanuel Baptist Church, located at 106 Boone Street; Brownsville Church of God, located at 920 West 1st North Street; and Baum Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, located at 943 West 1st North Street, just before noon on Monday.

Captain John Rogers said Tuesday investigators believe the burglaries are related.

Police first responded to the Brownsville Church of God, where the pastor showed them that someone had broken the window to the trustee's office. Upon further inspection, police found two rocks on the floor of the office, along with broken glass from the window.

The pastor said he also noticed two items were missing from the pastor's office: the church van key and a large amount of cash. Authorities also found a pair of black leather gloves in the office and the door jamb to the room appeared to be damaged.

While officers were processing the scene, a man from Baum Temple A.M.E. Zion Church walked up and told them a window had also been broken at his church.   Police investigated and found a broken window near the rear of the church.  As the investigation continued inside, officers discovered the pastor's office door was forced open, and several cabinets were open.

However, nothing was reported stolen.

Police then went to investigate at the Boone Street church, where a deacon told them someone had broken into the girl's bathroom window. Police discovered that someone forced the door open to the pastor's office and stole a 37" TV.

All three churches are located within minutes of one another.
