Deputies: Man hid in store bathroom then stole oxycodone

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Orangeburg County sheriff's deputies say a man hid in the bathroom of a grocery store until it closed and then stole oxycodone before smashing his way out the front door.

Deputies are looking to identify the suspect seen on surveillance video released Wednesday.

Investigators say the man entered the Piggly Wiggly grocery store on Savannah Highway in Neese at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 17 and went straight to the bathroom.

Just before 11 p.m. and after store closed, officers were notified that an alarm had been activated at the business. Deputies arrived to find the front glass doors smashed and no one in the store.

Deputies say the man stole oxycodone after the store closed and then fled the scene.

"It is important that we obtain information on the identity and the whereabouts of this individual," said Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell. "The way he was able to pull off this theft leaves us extremely concerned."
