NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston police arrested three men on drug charges Wednesday after seizing over 80 pounds of marijuana during a search following a traffic stop and subsequent foot chase.
Patrolling officers said they were on Highway 78 near Interstate 26 when they attempted to execute a traffic stop on 29-year-old Antonio Myers. Police say Meyers stopped his 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo but immediately ran away from police into a wooded area.
He was detained a short time later and officers said they found "a quantity of drugs" in the area of the arrest. The investigation led police to Myers' home on Mixedwood Drive and an apartment complex on Highway 78 in North Charleston.
Inside the Mixedwood Drive home, officers recovered 35 pounds of marijuana valued at $159,000 and a "significant amount of cash," the incident report states.
During a search at the Highway 78 apartment, police seized 51 pounds of marijuana valued at $232,000. Police also arrested the men living at that apartment, 29-year-old Montae Seabrook and 34-year-old Richard German, and charged them with trafficking marijuana.
Myers is charged with trafficking marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana within a ½ mile of a school.
All three suspects were taken to the Charleston County Detention Center.
