Investigators locate stolen shipping containers worth $100k

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Investigators have arrested a 44-year-old Holly Hill man after detectives located several stolen shipping containers worth $100,000.

The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office charged Reginal Arnold Hutto with two counts of felony grand larceny following a two month investigation into reports of containers reported stolen in Berkeley County.

On Jan. 18, a truck that was being used in the thefts was found at Hutto's home in Holly Hill connected to a container and chassis that had been reported stolen out of North Charleston, deputies say.

An incident report states that the search also resulted in another four stolen containers and another eleven stolen chassis being located on the property.

With the assistance of an agent from the National Insurance Crime Bureau, investigators say they were able to determine that the containers and chassis had been stolen from Berkeley, Dorchester and Orangeburg counties, as well as North Charleston, Sumter and Holly Hill.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges may be coming.
