Woman reportedly abducted on James Island found safe

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office located a woman who was reported abducted near Saint James Drive earlier this week. Deputies say they have solved the case.

At 6:23 p.m. Thursday, deputies received a tip and located the alleged victim in downtown Charleston. She was unharmed and did not need any medical attention.

Investigators say the incident was the result of a domestic dispute between the woman and her live-in boyfriend. There are no charges pending in this investigation.

On Wednesday, deputies responded to St. James Avenue after receiving a complaint about a female being abducted by three men. According to the complainant, one of the subjects exited the vehicle, grabbed the victim and threw her in the back seat of the car. The vehicle was last seen heading toward Central Park and Maybank Highway.

The investigation found that the woman's boyfriend was in fact the individual that encountered her on St. James Avenue.
