Deputies: Man stabbed uncle while he slept on couch

COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A man is behind bars after police say he attacked his uncle with a knife while he was sleeping on the couch. The Colleton County Sheriff's Office is investigating a stabbing that happened early Sunday morning in Round-O.

Deputies were called out to Bodison Memorial Drive around 3:40 a.m. in reference to a stabbing between an uncle and his nephew.

A family member told deputies the victim 51-year-old William Sanders was asleep on the couch when he let out a loud scream. According to the witness, when they ran in the room they saw the victim's nephew 21-year-old Daquan Lavine Sanders of Round-O stabbing the victim with a knife several times.

Authorities say the witness tried to stop the attack, but was cut on the hands. The victim was flown to an area hospital with multiple stab wounds and is listed in serious condition.

The suspect, Daquan Sanders, was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

A bond hearing for the suspect was scheduled for Monday morning at the Colleton County Detention Center.
