ORANGEBURG, SC (WCSC) - Authorities have arrested a 32-year-old Summerville man accused of fatally shooting another man in Orangeburg Thursday night.
The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office has charged Demetrice Dwight Perry with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Investigators are also searching for 46-year-old Joann Jefferson who is accused of transporting Perry from Orangeburg County to Summerville following the shooting.
Deputies responded to a shooting incident on Peach Shed Road in Vance at 10:46 p.m. Thursday. When deputies arrived, they found a 50-year-old victim lying on his stomach suffering from a gunshot wound.
"Perry's arrest brings closure to the victim's family and allows my officers to redirect manpower and resources to provide services to citizens in this county," Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said."I applaud all the officers involved in this investigation for the phenomenal job they performed in making this arrest in four days."
