Teen charged with attacking patient at Summerville health facility

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) -

Authorities have charged a teenager accused of punching a Summerville Palmetto Health patient until he blacked out.

The Summerville Police Department charged the juvenile with assault.

On Jan. 5, police responded to Summerville Medical Center in reference to an assault. When police arrived they observed that the victim had bruising on both sides of his face and his nose was slightly swollen and displaced.

The victim said he was in his room praying when the suspect struck him several times in the face until he blacked out.  When the victim regained consciousness, the victim said he placed the suspect in a "guillotine" choke until staff members separated the two.

The victim said the suspect had attacked him several times in the past. Center officials say the victim and the suspect have been feuding for some time.

The suspect told police that the victim was talking trash and that it made him mad. The suspect said he went to the victim's room and hit him twice.
