Smoke prompts closure of Georgetown Co. road

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol has shut down a roadway in Georgetown County due to smoky conditions.

Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said Chopee Road near Genesis Road has been closed for the conditions.

There's no word on what has caused the smoke in the area at this time.

Collins said the SCHP will alert the public when the road has reopened.
