Bond for sexual assault suspect set at $1 million

GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - A Berkeley County judge set bond at $1,000,000 on Saturday for the man accused of sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend in Goose Creek.

37-year-old Steven Morgan's bond was set at $1,000,000  for attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, kidnapping, and criminal sexual conduct. He was captured on January 29 in Georgia.

On Friday, investigators traveled to Augusta, Ga. to take custody of Morgan from the Richmond County Sheriff's Office. Morgan waived extradition proceedings and was transported back to Berkeley County.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office located Morgan at a home in Augusta on January 29.  Investigators say that the victim's truck was also recovered. The victim remains hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say Morgan forced his way into the victim's house at 4 a.m. in the Ryan Creek subdivision.
