Authorities investigating house fire in downtown Charleston

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston City Fire Department is investigating a fire at a home Saturday afternoon on St. Phillips Street in Downtown Charleston.

Fire officials say a call came in around 2:25. When crews arrived on the scene they saw smoke coming from the second floor of the house.

According to officials a fire was started on the porch of the second floor and went up into the attic. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze.

Authorities say it's too early to determine if the fire was intentionally set. The cause of the fire remains under investigations with the Charleston City Fire Department.
