17 vehicle break-ins reported in two Goose Creek neighborhoods

GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) -

Police are investigating a rash of 17 car break-ins which were reported in two nearby Goose Creek neighborhoods on Monday.

Officers with the Goose Creek Police Department responded to residences in Persimmon Hills and Stratford Forest on Monday.  Both of those neighborhoods are located off St. James Avenue.

Police said they found 8 vehicles which had been tampered with in the Persimmon Hills neighborhood, some of which were parked on the street and some in the driveway of residences.  One of the vehicles broken into was on Davenport Street, 4 were located on Brockman Way, and 3 were found on Taylor Circle.  Police say the burglars made off with a silver bracelet, a wool cap, and 4 pairs of sunglasses.

Over in Stratford Forest, 8 vehicle break-ins were reported on Knottingham Drive and another break-in was reported on Tunstall Drive.  Among the items listed stolen by police were: a Garmin GPS, a camera, a cell phone charger, a portable DVD player, and prescription sunglasses.

The DVD player was apparently left by the perpetrator in another neighbor's car, according to the incident report.

Police said all of the vehicles that were tampered with were left unlocked by their owners.
