WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Police say they have taken one of three suspects into custody after a man chased down his assailants following an armed robbery in West Ashley early Tuesday morning.
Charleston Police arrested two additional suspects Tuesday who were wanted in connection with an armed robbery last month on Parkdale Drive in which the victim chased down the alleged assailants.
Police arrested 20-year-old Xavier Deangelo Campbell, of Ashley River Road, and 19-year-old Deoshea Jermaine Green, of Belgrade Court. Both are charged with two counts of first degree assault and battery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime for their alleged roles in the Jan. 17 armed robbery.
Green is also charged with simple possession of marijuana due to an outstanding warrant with Charleston police. Both men are being held in the Charleston County Detention Center.
According to police, the robbery occurred around 1 a.m. on Jan. 17 when the victim went to Parkdale Drive to a visit a family member. The victim was standing near his car when he was approached from behind by two of the suspects, who knocked him to the ground and took his cell phone and wallet.
The suspects then got into a vehicle driven by a third suspect. The victim got into his vehicle and followed the suspects to Castlewood Townhouses, where two of the suspects got out of their vehicle and shot at the victim's car.
The driver of the suspects' vehicle then continued driving to Glenn McConnell Parkway, while he was being followed by the victim in his vehicle. Both drivers stopped on Glenn McConnell Parkway where the victim was able to call for help.
Police arrested 24-year-old David Michael Coleman, of Lochaven Drive, later that morning. Police say Coleman was the driver of the suspects' vehicle. He is charged with armed robbery.
