ISLE OF PALMS, SC (WCSC) - It may be getting a little pricier to go to the beach on the Isle of Palms next year.
On Wednesday night, the city's Planning Commission recommended requiring visitors to purchase a $65 seasonal pass in order to park on streets outside the commercial area.
According to City Administrator Linda Tucker, visitors would have to have a pass from March through September each day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. If the recommendation is approved by City Council, Tucker said up to 1,000 passes would be issued starting in 2013.
Parking in residential areas has long been a problem for residents of IOP, who complain about visitors leaving trash behind and damaging their yards.
Last year, the Planning Commission proposed adding more public parking lots along Ocean Boulevard from Tenth Avenue to Breach Inlet.
