CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - It looks like proponents of extending the Charleston City Marina docks further into their Ashley River may get their way.

The Department of Health and Environmental Control upheld a permit to reconfigure the marina during a meeting on Thursday, DHEC spokesman Adam Myrick said.

The proposal, among other things, calls for extending a portion of the docks another 140 feet into the Ashley River.

Federal permits still must be approved before the project will move forward.
