MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - A man who led deputies on a high speed chase last month has had several run-ins with the law in the past.
Timothy McManus had four run-ins with Mount Pleasant police last year. In February, police pulled him for running a stop sign. They arrested him for driving under suspension and say he admitted to snorting oxycodone.
Two months later, McManus was pulled again for having two lights out. According to the incident report, McManus didn't stop for the blue lights or siren at first. When he did, police say he admitted to driving with a suspended license.
McManus was pulled over again in December. According to the incident report, McManus almost hit a police car with his truck and lied about his name.
The officer says McManus apologized and said he was counting coins when he crossed the center line. Mount Pleasant police say McManus has also run from them before.
In September of 2008, police say he was arrested after officers say he was yelling profanities at men in a van, then ran off when officers tried to stop him. Once on the ground, police say he didn't follow orders.
McManus remains in the Charleston County Detention Center.
