Woman cited after leaving kids in car while shopping at Walmart

WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) - Authorities cited a woman at Walmart early Saturday morning after finding her young children alone in a running car.

Walterboro Public Safety officials were patrolling the parking lot around 12:30 a.m. Saturday when they observed a red Suzuki Forenza illegally parked in front of the Walmart.

As they approached the car, officers saw two children who appeared to be between the ages of 2 and 4 sitting alone in the car.  Authorities also noted that the car radio was turned up very loudly.

Officers walked inside and cited the mother, Shannon Doubleday, for child endangerment, loud and unnecessary noises, child restraint violation, and illegal parking.
