NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The power is back on for people in North Charleston after four hours in the dark.
According to SCE&G, a piece of equipment failed and ended up knocking down a power line, which blew out an electric substation in the Dorchester Road area.
At the peak of the outage, 7,000 customers were without power from the Dorchester Road area toward the airport.
Most of the power was restored by 3:30am. The outage lasted about four hours.
