CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Fire management staff of the South Carolina Forestry Commission have lifted the Red Flag Fire Alert for all counties in its Pee Dee and Coastal operating regions.

At this time, no portion of South Carolina is under a Red Flag Fire Alert.

Improving fire weather conditions include a rain, calmer winds and increasing relative humidity values.

Over the duration of the Red Flag Alert (Friday evening through this morning), the Commission responded approximately 121 wildfire calls statewide.

Although fire weather conditions are improving, South Carolina is in the middle of its annual late winter/early spring fire season.  Additionally, long term drought conditions persist statewide.  Residents are urged to postpone outdoor burning.

If conditions deteriorate again, the Forestry Commission will issue another Red Flag Fire Alert for those areas at risk for elevated wildfire activity.
