NC Prep Ties Jordan Scoring Record, Commits To CofC

WILMINGTON, NC -

Elijah Wilson of Laney High School in North Carolina tied a school record that was held by NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan on Monday night by scoring 42 points as his Buccaneers moved on in the state playoffs with a 68-62 win in 4 overtimes over New Bern.

After the game, Wilson, who measures at 6'4 195lbs. committed to play college ball at the College of Charleston according to sources. Interim Head Coach Mark Byington was one of a couple coaches in attendance for the performance on Monday. The Star News website says he's played in 16 games this season and is averaging over 22 points a game for Laney.

The feat came 1 day short of the 32nd anniversary of the day Jordan scored 42 on Valentine's Day 1980 according to the Star News.
