Junior infielder Richie Shaffer (Charlotte, NC) was named to the Golden Spikes Award Watch List on Thursday.  The watch list features 50 of the nation's top amateur players.  The award will be presented in July.  Former Tiger Khalil Greene won the award in 2002.

Shaffer led or tied for the 2011 team lead in games (63), runs (62), homers (13), RBIs (55), total bases (128), slugging percentage (.577), and walks (44). He also hit .315 with 15 doubles, two triples, and eight steals.
