CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police have charged a man with burglarizing a King Street jewelry store twice in the fall and winter of 2011.

Investigators with the Charleston Police Department say 34-year-old Michael Cannon Polensky stole over $120,000 worth of merchandise from Kurt Rath Jewelers during September and December burglaries.

Court documents state Polensky's first burglary occurred on September 20, when he took a Dell laptop, one gold bracelet, three loose diamonds, a gold necklace, and fifty gold mounting shanks and other miscellaneous jewelry and precious metals. That heist was valued at $28,610.

It happened again between December 24-27, when he stole $100,000 worth of gold and jewelry, court documents state.

Investigators were able to arrest Polensky after matching his fingerprints from the scene with several of the stolen items later found at local pawn stores, the affidavit states.

Polensky was arrested on Monday and was issued a $60,000 bond.
