A popular Savannah Country Day student-athlete was killed in a single vehicle crash late Saturday afternoon near Hardeeville.
Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls confirmed that 16-year-old Stuart Sligh was killed after he lost control of the Toyota pickup truck he was driving and was ejected.
South Carolina Highway Patrol says Sligh was not wearing a seatbelt; meanwhile another passenger in the truck was wearing a seatbelt when the truck overturned on a private road belonging to the New River Hunting Club.
The passenger was taken to the hospital for injuries.
Sligh was a quarterback for the Hornets football team.
