No charges filed against motorist who hit, killed woman

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC)- Charleston police say no charges will be filed against the motorist who struck and killed a 56-year-old woman in West Ashley over the weekend.

The incident happened early Saturday morning on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard near North Woodmere Drive, when police say 56-year-old Darleen Banks was struck by a white Ford Taurus while crossing the road.

The Charleston County Coroner's Office said Banks died from blunt force trauma to the body.
