ORANGEBURG, SC (WCSC) - Investigators arrested three people accused of dealing cocaine and marijuana near a school in Orangeburg.
The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office charged 30-year-old Clyde Walker, 27-year-old Erica A. Tamayo and 23-year-old Corderial J. Meeks with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana in proximity of a school.
Officers responded to a home on Jamison Avenue to arrest Walker on an outstanding warrant.
According to investigators, as officers knocked on the door and announced themselves, Meeks fled the home through a rear door where he was met by officers. Officers said that they could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the residence while talking with Meeks.
Meeks then told officers that no one else was in the residence, but shortly thereafter officers say Tamayo exited the back door where officers were talking to Meeks. Walker also came out of the residence.
Officers say they observed money scattered on the floor in the residence. Special Operations and Warrants Officers searched the residence and located 14 grams of cocaine, 54 grams of marijuana, a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson pistol, a 9 mm highpoint pistol and $3,916 in cash."
"We remain vigilant in our efforts to seek out those individuals who are trafficking, selling, and abusing narcotics in our county," Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said."There will be more investigations, more searches, and more arrests. That is what the citizen's of this county have asked for and we plan to deliver."
