NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston police say a man witnessed two suspects inside his car and then confronted them with a gun. The man fired several shots at the alleged car jackers as they drove off with his vehicle.

Police say the incident happened around midnight Sunday at St. James Crossing Apartments on Dorchester Road. A male victim told police officers that he had dropped off his cousin at an apartment near the rental office. He then parked his car in front of the 900 building, left it running and walked towards the apartment.

As the victim began walking, he said noticed two men walking towards him. The victim returned to his car, grabbed a handgun and then ran inside the apartment.

Next, the victim told police that he saw the suspects go into his vehicle. The victim then exited the apartment and pointed his gun towards the vehicle, telling the suspects to stop what they were doing. The victim alleges that the man in the passenger seat pointed a handgun at him through the windshield. At that point, the victim says he fired shots as the suspects drove out of the complex.

The victim's vehicle was later found abandoned in Moncks Corner, but there was no sign of the suspects.
