EUTAWVILLE, SC (WIS) - Orangeburg County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a murder-suicide that happened Saturday night in Eutawville.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says deputies were first called to Strick's One Stop on Old Number Six Highway at 6:23 p.m. after an employee reported seeing a woman shot. The employee told investigators they heard a gunshot, saw a woman fall to the ground and a pickup truck quickly leaving the scene.
The Orangeburg County Coroner identified the woman as 42-year-old Anngenette Shaw of Eutawville.
Just minutes after discovering the first fatal shooting, deputies were called to Oilers Drive, less than a mile and a half away, for a report of a suicide. The coroner identifed the deceased as 53-year-old Kenneth Burch.
Ravenell says after shooting Shaw, Burch drove to his mother's house, which is next door to his own home, and kissed her. Burch then returned to his home and shot himself.
Coroner Samuetta Marshall conducted autopsies on Shaw and Burch on Sunday, but she could not release any additional information.
