LADSON, SC (AP) - General Dynamics is laying off 155 workers at its armored vehicle plant in South Carolina.
Company spokesman Tommy Pruitt said Monday that most of the workers being laid off at its Ladson plant outside Charleston are administrative and professional and will be given help in finding new jobs.
General Dynamics bought the plant formerly known as Force Protection late last year for $360 million.
A company statement said it will continue to employ about 600 workers in the Charleston area and no additional cuts are expected.
The company said the layoffs were required after an assessment of company operations and ongoing business requirements.
