NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Boeing's first South Carolina-built 787 took a significant turn over the weekend.
The airplane was pulled outside of the final assembly building for a brief period on Sunday where it was turned and re-positioned to come down the home stretch to delivery.
The airplane is now in the next to last position before it rolls out of final assembly to the delivery center.
The delivery center is where interior installation will be completed and the airplane will go through production test to ensure that each unit assembly, airplane section and the airplane itself conforms to designs and is safe to operate.
Boeing is still on schedule for a mid-2012 delivery.
