MARINE CORPS AIR STATION BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - Marine Corps F/A-18 jet units at the Beaufort Air Station are training day and night during the next two weeks, resulting in increased jet noise.
Marine Corps spokesman Lance Cpl. R.J. Driver says there will be flights during the early evening hours and all night long beginning Tuesday. The increased noise is due to the units practicing with several jets at a time.
The training will continue on Wednesday and Thursday. There will be practice on the same days next week, but it will last from midday into the evening hours.
Two squadrons are preparing for an upcoming deployment to Afghanistan and must practice flights that would take place if they are deployed onboard an aircraft carrier.
