NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Police say they arrested two men early Tuesday morning after finding guns inside cars while patrolling the parking lot of a North Charleston night club.

North Charleston Police officers were patrolling the parking lot of Club Pulse, located at 7550 Dorchester Road, at 1:42 a.m. when they saw a handgun sitting in the center console of a Chevy Impala, a report states. Police said they waited for the driver, 24-year-old Jeffrey Nelson, to return to the car before they apprehended him and searched the vehicle.

Inside, police found a Ruger 9MM pistol. Nelson was charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol.

Around the same time, another police officer looked inside the driver-side window of a Lexus GS 300 and saw a black gun barrel sticking out from under the seat. That officer waited for the driver to return, and when 26-year-old Rickey Sheppard got to his car, he was arrested.

Inside the vehicle, officers found a Smith & Wesson pistol. Sheppard, who told police he had a permit for the gun, was also charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol.

Both suspects were taken to the Charleston County Detention Center.
