Cops: Man wanted after punching, threatening spouse with shotgun

WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) - Authorities are looking for a Walterboro man after his spouse told police he beat her and threatened her with a 12-gauge shotgun late Monday night.

According to a Walterboro Public Safety incident report, the female victim told investigators that Fred Eugene Wiggins III, her boyfriend of 21 years, came to their Chaplin Street home just before midnight, and accused her of cheating on him.

The victim said that Wiggins struck her with a closed fist, and when she tried to fight back, he grabbed a 12-gauge shotgun out of the closet, loaded the weapon, and pointed it at her face.  The victim said he told her "he would kill her if he wanted to".

Officers recovered the Mossberg shotgun at the home on Tuesday, but Wiggins had disappeared.  He is wante for criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.

Police did not provide a description of the suspect.
