CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police are investigating a shooting that happened early Thursday morning in downtown Charleston.
Officers on the scene say the shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. at the corner of Line Street and Nassau Street. A 28-year-old man was shot in the right leg, but police say the injury is non-life threatening.
The victim told police he was walking east on Line Street between Meeting and Nassau Streets when he heard two gunshots. He said the shots came from the intersection of Line and Nassau Streets. One of the shots hit the victim about six inches below his waistline on his right leg.
A nearby motorist in a gray van took the victim to MUSC for treatment.
Several police officers were on scene investigating the shooting and setting up crime tape on Line Street. Police recovered two shell casings from the crime scene.
Investigators are working leads to find a suspect and the investigation is ongoing.
