Construction worker hit, killed by backhoe near Summerville

DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say a construction worker was killed on Friday after being struck by a backhoe at a worksite outside of Summerville.

Major John Garrison with the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to the site near the corner of Dorchester and Fisher roads around 1 p.m.  That area is a little southwest of Summerville.

Garrison said it was "an accident that resulted in a death".
