GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - Patients who use Naval Health Clinic Charleston are being advised that the main clinic and the dental clinic will be closed until Wednesday, March 7 due to a power outage.
The outage was caused by Saturday's thunderstorms.
Patients at the Naval Health Clinic and dental clinic who have appointments Monday or Tuesday should call to reschedule. Pharmacy customers who need of emergency refills of medication can be seen at the Joint Base Charleston Air Base pharmacy.
Maintenance crews continue to assess and repair this substantial disruption of power and phone service. Patients may call 1-800-343-0639 ext. 5 any time to hear the latest information regarding the power outage, appointments and the clinics' status.
All Naval Health Clinic Charleston staff members who have been designated as "essential personnel" will be required to work on Monday. All non-essential civilians and contractors will be granted administrative leave; all non-essential military personnel will be granted special liberty.
"We implemented our normal emergency procedures when this event occurred," said Lt. Cmdr. Rich Gilliard, Director for Administration for the clinic. "Because we plan and practice for unfortunate circumstances such as this, we were able to quickly roll out a well-defined response plan to assure the safety of our patients. We regret the inconvenience this will cause to some of our patients and their families but can assure them that everything possible is being done to restore this massive outage."
