Coroner: Local doctor's body found in Stono River

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say the body of a local doctor was recovered Sunday night in the Stono River near Edwater Park.

The Charleston County Coroner's Office identified the body as 61-year-old Dr. Charles Kisabeth.

Natural Resources Department Lt. Robert McCullough says Kisabeth's body was found in the water shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday. The body was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina.

McCullough says a man reported he and his father-in-law fell from a boat shortly after 6:30 p.m. The man said he swam to shore but could not find his father-in law.

McCullough says officials also found the capsized boat.

The Coast Guard, Charleston County Sheriff's Office and DHEC took part in the search.
