The Mt. Pleasant police major charged with DUI after a wreck last weekend has resigned.

Major Frank Riccio, 51, was arrested by South Carolina Highway Patrol after his Jeep ran off the left side of Highway 17, into the median and crashed Saturday afternoon in Georgetown County.

Riccio was charged with driving under the influence and released on a $997 personal recognizance bond after a hearing.
