MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The Horry County Coroner's Office is investigating after first responders discovered a person who appeared to have been electrocuted after a fire, according to Myrtle Beach Police.
Lt. Doug Furlong, spokesman for the Myrtle Beach Police Department,says units were dispatched to a fire behind a dumpster at 510 N. Kings Hwy just after 2 p.m.
While battling the fire, first responders discovered the body of a person who appeared to have been electrocuted, Furlong said.
Tamara Willard, Chief Deputy Coroner in Horry County, says she was en route to the scene just before 3:30 p.m.
Willard confirmed the body was deceased, but could not confirm any other details. The results of the autopsy are pending.
Myrtle Beach Fire Chief Calvin Payne said investigators are working to determine if the fire and apparent electrocution are connected.
