GEORGETOWN, SC (WCSC) - SCDOT crews will close US Highway 17 in Georgetown for seven days next week in order to work on the ongoing drainage project, officials announced Wednesday.
The road, also known as Fraser Street, will be closed between Front and Prince Streets starting at 7 a.m. Sunday, March 11, through 4 p.m., Saturday, March 17.
Originally, SCDOT officials said the work was only going to take five days.
Motorists and residents traveling northbound will have to use Front Street to Hazard Street.
Southbound motorists should use Merriman Road.
All residents are encouraged to allow extra time for your commute during this time as we expect morning and afternoon traffic to be heavy at times.
Both the police and fire departments will be monitoring traffic conditions to ensure safety during this traffic change, officials said.
