ATLANTA (AP) - Authorities say a South Carolina man killed in a hit and run crash in Georgia drove a car that belonged to a man who later was found dead in northwest Alabama.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the Georgia State Patrol says on Tuesday, 44-year-old William Clark Hildreph lost control of a Chevrolet Impala driving on Interstate 20.
The state patrol says Hildreph got out of the vehicle, tried to cross the highway on foot and was hit by a red sport-utility vehicle. The driver of the SUV left the scene.
Investigators say the car belonged to 57-year-old Danny Joe Baxter, whose body was found in his home in Haleyville, Ala., which is northwest of Birmingham. Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright says troopers are looking for the driver who allegedly hit Hildreph.
